ZenGenius Pride Month Window Display

I was given the opportunity to create my own window display for ZenGenius’s Marketplace. I came up with a few different ideas, all of them corresponding to different months that they could have been up. I presented the three ideas to Zen and they chose the one that they liked the best. I chose to create something special for pride month because of how important the LGBTQIA+ community is to the design and art community and the city of Columbus in general. This idea popped into my head after visiting the ZenGenuis Marketplace which is located directly next to Stonewall Columbus HQ. The history behind the Stonewall Riots and the constant debate over human rights fueled my desire for artistic expression that focuses on connection, love, and support. I started my research process by gathering inspiration by going to malls, art museums, and scouring the internet for unique retail displays. This was my first challenge to make a VM display, and I was tasked with creating something with display tools the ZG already had (sustainability is a big focus for this brand). The final product was created with ribbon, vinyl, fishing line, and disco balls. Each ribbon represents one color of the LBGTQIA+ flag.
