Spa Oasis

This client came in with a tile that she was absolutely in love with. Her mother was paying for the project and said that the price point was too high and that in her opinion, it was way too busy.

Constraints

The client was in love with the coastal marble pebble mosaics. Marble can get pricey really quickly, especially the mosaics. Truth be told, I did agree that doing an entire tub surround with it would be a bit much. I suggested that we use the mosaic as a focal point, but not as the entire space. We found some different options that went well with the color scheme and played with layouts in the TilePlanner. I showed her options with accent stripes in different areas. each time she was disappointed because she really wanted there to be more of the mosaic. Something that I also noted was that this was a particularly low ceiling. They were trying to turn a very dark basement bathroom into something beautiful and relaxing. The best solution that we could find was to do a waterfall accent. It checked all the boxes. Mom was happy because her price point was cut in half, and she thought the design looked beautiful that way. The daughter was thrilled because she got the tile that she wanted and a lot of it. The waterfall design drew the eye upward to help combat the low ceiling. We turned a dingy basement into the spa relaxation area of her dreams. We chose flooring after that. We went with this orangey color to compliment the blue and green hues, and to keep within those natural tones.
